Doors & Trim
The details that pull a room together. From solid core doors and hardware to baseboards, crown molding, and wainscotting, we handle the finishing work that makes a home feel complete.
All Interior ServicesDoors and trim are the details people notice without realizing it. A solid core door that closes with weight instead of rattling. Clean baseboards that follow the floor line perfectly. Crown molding that finishes a room the way a frame finishes a painting. These are the elements that separate a finished home from a renovated one.
We install interior doors, exterior entry doors, baseboards, window and door casing, crown molding, and wainscotting. Every piece is measured, cut, and installed on-site for a precise fit.
Door Types

Solid Core Doors
Heavier, quieter, and more durable than hollow core. Solid core doors reduce sound transfer between rooms and feel substantial when you close them. The best upgrade you can make for bedrooms and bathrooms.

Hollow Core Doors
Lightweight and budget-friendly. Hollow core doors work for closets, pantries, and utility rooms where sound reduction is not a priority. Available in the same styles as solid core at a lower price point.

Barn Doors
Sliding barn doors save floor space and add character. Available in stained wood, painted MDF, or custom builds. We install the track hardware and build the door to fit your opening.

Steel & Security Doors
Insulated steel exterior doors for entries, mudrooms, and garages. Better security, better insulation, and available with multi-point locking systems. We also install auto-close hinges for fire-rated applications.

Solid Core vs. Hollow Core
The difference between a solid core and hollow core door is immediately noticeable. Solid core doors are heavier, quieter, and more resistant to warping. They reduce sound transfer between rooms significantly, which makes a real difference for bedrooms, bathrooms, and home offices.
Solid core doors cost more but they add value to your home and feel like a premium product. We recommend them for every room where privacy or noise matters. They also hold up better to daily use and are less likely to dent or damage.
Hollow core doors are a practical choice for closets, pantries, and linen closets. They are lighter, less expensive, and come in the same styles. For a cost-effective renovation, we often recommend solid core for bedrooms and bathrooms with hollow core for storage spaces.
Door Styles & Materials
Doors set the tone for every room. Here are the styles and materials we work with.
Painted MDF
The most popular choice for interior doors. MDF does not expand or contract with humidity, takes paint beautifully, and delivers a smooth, consistent finish. Available in shaker, flat panel, and traditional raised panel profiles.
Stained Wood
Pine, oak, maple, and alder doors finished with stain to show the natural grain. Best for cottages, rustic homes, and spaces where wood character is part of the design. We match the stain to your existing trim and flooring.
Steel Entry Doors
Insulated steel for exterior entries. Better security and energy efficiency than wood. Available with decorative glass inserts, sidelites, and multi-point locking systems. We also install deadbolts and smart locks.
Shaker Style
Clean lines with a recessed centre panel. The most versatile door style, works in modern, transitional, and farmhouse interiors. Available in MDF or wood.
Flat Panel / Flush
Completely smooth face with no paneling. The cleanest, most modern option. Pairs well with contemporary trim profiles and minimalist interiors.
French & Glass Panel
Interior doors with glass inserts for rooms that benefit from borrowed light. Available in clear, frosted, and textured glass. Common between living rooms, dens, and home offices.
Hardware & Locks
Door hardware is one of the easiest ways to update the look of your home. Swapping old brass knobs for matte black lever handles changes the feel of every room without a major renovation. We install handles, hinges, and locks as part of every door project.
Lock types include passage sets (no lock, for hallways and closets), privacy sets (push-button lock for bedrooms and bathrooms), and keyed entry sets for exterior doors. We also install deadbolts and smart lock systems.
Auto-close hinges are available for doors that need to close on their own. Common for fire-rated doors between garages and living spaces, but also useful for mudroom and pantry doors that tend to get left open.
Popular finishes include Matte Black, Brushed Nickel, Satin Brass, and Oil Rubbed Bronze. We recommend matching your door hardware to your light fixtures and cabinet pulls for a cohesive look throughout the home.

Trim & Molding
Trim is what ties a room together. It covers the transitions between walls and floors, frames your windows and doors, and adds architectural detail that makes a space feel finished. Removing old, damaged trim and replacing it with clean, properly installed profiles is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make.
We install baseboards, door and window casing, crown molding, wainscotting, chair rail, and decorative panel molding. Every joint is coped or mitered, every nail hole is filled, and every piece is caulked and painted (or stained) for a seamless finish.
Trim Types
Each type of trim serves a purpose and adds a layer of detail to your interior.
Baseboards
The most visible trim in any room. Covers the gap between the wall and floor, protects the wall from furniture and foot traffic, and sets the visual baseline for the entire space. Available in 3.5" to 7" heights. Taller baseboards create a more substantial, finished look.
Materials: MDF (painted) or pine/poplar (stained or painted)
Price: MDF is the most cost-effective. Real wood adds 30-50% but allows for staining.
Door & Window Casing
Frames every door and window opening. Casing covers the gap between the jamb and the drywall and creates a clean border. Available in flat, stepped, and traditional profiles. Should match or complement your baseboard style.
Materials: MDF (painted) or pine/poplar (stained or painted)
Price: Similar cost to baseboards. Custom profiles cost more but create a unique look.
Crown Molding
Installed where the wall meets the ceiling to add elegance and visual height. Crown molding transforms a plain room into a finished space. Available in simple cove profiles to elaborate multi-piece builds. Best in rooms with 9-foot or taller ceilings.
Materials: MDF, pine, poplar, or lightweight polyurethane foam
Price: More labour-intensive than baseboards. Multi-piece builds cost more but deliver a dramatic result.
Wainscotting & Panel Molding
Paneling applied to the lower portion of a wall, typically 32 to 42 inches high. Board-and-batten, shaker-style, and raised panel are the most common. Adds architectural depth, protects walls from chair backs and furniture, and pairs beautifully with a chair rail cap.
Materials: MDF panels and battens (painted) or tongue-and-groove pine (stained)
Price: Mid-range trim investment. The visual impact is significant for the cost.

MDF vs. Real Wood
This is the most common question we get about trim, and the answer depends on whether you are painting or staining.
If you are painting your trim, MDF is the better choice for most applications. It is perfectly smooth, does not have wood grain or knots, and paints to a flawless finish. MDF does not expand and contract with humidity the way wood does, so joints stay tight over time. It is also less expensive than real wood, which means your budget goes further.
If you want a stained or natural wood look, real wood is the only option. Pine is the most popular and affordable choice for stained trim. It takes stain well and gives that warm, cottage or country look. Poplar is a step up for painted applications where you want wood durability. Oak and maple are premium options for a more refined grain pattern.
The trade-off with real wood is movement. Wood expands and contracts with seasonal humidity changes, which can open joints and cause caulk to crack. This is manageable with proper installation and finishing, but it requires more maintenance over time than MDF.
