Introduction

Dyson Contracting Inc.("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of our clients, website visitors, and employees. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian privacy legislation.

Consent

We use two kinds of tracking on our website. A notice on your first visit explains this, and you can opt out of the second kind at any time.

Site analytics.We count every visit and every click on our own website (which pages are viewed, what is clicked, and how long visitors stay) so we can see what is working and improve the site. This is measurement of activity on our website only. We record which button or link was clicked and on which page, not what you type into forms. If you do not want your visits counted, you can block analytics with your browser's privacy settings or a content blocker, or contact us.

Advertising measurement.To measure and improve our Facebook and Instagram advertising, we use Google's advertising features on our analytics data (Google Signals and ad personalization), Google Tag Manager, and the Meta Pixel. These are on by default. By continuing to use our website you agree to this, unless you opt out. You can opt out in any of these ways:

Click "Don't track me" in the notice shown on your first visit. (Clicking "OK" keeps advertising measurement on and dismisses the notice.)
Click the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer at any time. This reopens the notice so you can change your choice. Your current choice stays in effect until you pick a new one.
Turn on the Global Privacy Control setting in your browser. If we detect it, we treat it as an opt-out automatically and do not show the notice. You can still choose "OK" through Cookie Preferences if you want to allow advertising measurement.

When you opt out, the advertising features, Google Tag Manager, and the Meta Pixel are turned off right away, including for the rest of your current visit. Opting out affects advertising measurement only. Basic site analytics (counting visits and clicks on our own website, described above) continue. Your choice is stored locally in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers.

By submitting our contact form, you consent to the collection and use of the information you provide for the purposes described below. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of personal information:

Contact information: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address provided through our contact form
Project information: details about your renovation project, property address, budget range, and project photos you choose to upload
Website analytics: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on our website, clicks and taps on our website, and approximate location, collected through Google Analytics 4 and, unless you opt out, the Meta Pixel
Chatbot conversations: messages exchanged with our website chatbot, stored on our servers and in your browser. Conversations may be reviewed to improve service delivery and identify potential project leads
Mailing list: name and email address if you opt in to our newsletter (double opt-in, CASL-compliant)

How We Use Your Information

To respond to your estimate request and plan your project
To communicate with you about your renovation
To send marketing communications (only with your explicit consent, per CASL)
To improve our website and understand how visitors use it (site analytics)
To manage client relationships through our CRM (Square)
To comply with legal obligations

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Site analytics (always on):

Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID: G-NM3P33F7RH) records pages visited, clicks on the site, session duration, device type, and approximate location. It uses first-party cookies to recognize repeat visits. Google may process this data on servers outside Canada. Visits from our own team are excluded.

Advertising measurement (on by default, you can opt out):

Google advertising features on Google Analytics 4 (Google Signals and ad personalization) allow Google to associate analytics data with signed-in Google accounts for advertising purposes.
Google Tag Manager (Container: GTM-PLLMP5PS) manages the loading of advertising scripts.
Meta Pixel (Pixel ID: 443674846380130) tracks page views for advertising measurement on Facebook and Instagram. Meta may process this data on servers outside Canada.

We also use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights for anonymous performance monitoring. These tools collect no personally identifiable information and do not use cookies.

Essential storage: We use browser localStorage (not cookies) for theme preference and chatbot session continuity. These are functional, not used for tracking, and never sent to third parties.

Third-Party Services

We share personal information with the following service providers, solely to operate our business:

Resend for sending email notifications and newsletters
Square for client relationship management (CRM)
Cal.com for consultation scheduling (only when you book a consultation)
Vercel for website hosting and performance monitoring
Neon for secure database storage
Anthropicfor powering our AI chatbot assistant (conversation messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses; Anthropic does not use this data for training)
Google for site analytics and, unless you opt out, advertising measurement
Meta for advertising measurement (unless you opt out)

Some of these providers may process data on servers located outside Canada (primarily the United States). By using our website or submitting your information, you acknowledge this transfer.

Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, and only to the extent necessary to deliver our services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our clients or the public.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database storage, and access controls on administrative systems. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

Contact form submissions and CRM records: retained for the duration of our business relationship plus any warranty or legal retention period
Mailing list contacts: retained until you unsubscribe
Analytics data: governed by Google and Meta retention policies (typically 14 months for GA4)
Chatbot conversations: stored on our servers for up to 90 days, and in your browser until you clear your browser data

Your Rights Under PIPEDA

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
Withdraw consent for the collection and use of your information (including unsubscribing from our mailing list or changing your cookie preferences)
Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond within 30 days.

Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

We comply with CASL for all commercial electronic messages. Marketing emails are sent only to individuals who have given express opt-in consent through our newsletter signup (double opt-in) or contact form mailing list checkbox. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. We honour unsubscribe requests within 10 business days.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. If we make significant changes to how we handle personal information, we will notify you through a prominent notice on our website.
